Role Statement:
To create effective and stimulating learners-centered opportunities for learning through high quality instruction that enables the development and progression of all learners. To have enthusiasm for the subject matter that inspires others to have a lifelong love of learning and the motivation, skills and attitudes to be productive citizens contributing positively to the development of the country.

Education Requirements:
 Bachelor degree in Chemistry from a recognized University.
Masters degree is preferred.
 Teaching Certificate / Diploma from a recognized University or equivalent.
 ILETS academic 7 or higher for Non-Native language speakers is required.

 Commitment to the highest standards of professional practice.
 Demonstrated ability to enhance learning through effective integration of ICT into professional practice.
 Excellent communication and relationship management skills, especially with learners, parents and the wider school community.
 Excellent organizational and planning skills.
 Good command of the English language.
 Demonstrated knowledge and ability in the use of differentiated teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners.
 Display a high level of cultural sensitivity in response to the needs of learners and peers.
 Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge and skills from their discipline to real-world situations.
 Demonstrated knowledge of the many ways in which learners like to learn.
 Awareness of the appropriate levels of intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of the learners.
 Capable of living up to universal ethical principles of honesty, truthfulness, integrity, fair treatment, and respect for others.

Principal Tasks and Responsibilities:
 Exercise leadership by taking personal responsibility for monitoring and assessing the progress of all learners.
 Maximize efficiency, maintain discipline and morale, promote teamwork, plan, communicate, focus on results, evaluate progress, and make constant adjustments to their professional practice.
 Use a range of strategies to promote positive relationships, cooperation, and purposeful learning in the classroom.
 Engage learners in individual and cooperative learning activities that help them develop their knowledge, skills, understanding and attitudes for learning.
 Organize, allocate, and manage the most appropriate educational resources to facilitate active and equitable engagement of learners in productive tasks.
 Use a range of teaching and learning strategies to engage learners in active learning opportunities that promote the development of critical thinking, problem solving, and performance capabilities and that help learners assume responsibility for identifying and using learning resources.
 Use formal tests, responses to quizzes, evaluation of class assignments, learner performances, projects, and standardized achievement tests to understand what learners know
 Use formative assessment strategies that involve learners in self-assessment activities to help them become aware of their strengths and needs, and to encourage them to set personal goals for learning.
 Maintain up to date records of learners work and performance and communicate learners progress knowledgeably and responsibly, based on appropriate indicators, to learners, parents, and other colleagues.
 Keep the needs of learners at the center of all professional planning and decision-making.
 Actively participate in staff development programmes and performance review.
 Pursue further training and professional development as a teacher.
 Participate in departmental meetings and reviews as required.
 Communicate and consult with parents on learner progress.
 Provide guidance and advice to learners on educational and social matters.
 Uphold the Institute’s code of conduct and all school policies.

Subject Specific Technical Skills:
 Demonstrate an understanding of Lab safety standards when dealing with chemicals
 Ability to explain and instruct carefully

 Ability to develop lesson planning that incorporates demonstrations, lectures and lab experiments.

 Facilitate learning on the scientific process and show leaners how to care for chemicals.

 Building up other related skills, that relate to:

• analytical and problem-solving

• time management and organization

• planning and executing experiments, undertaking individual and team project work and completing your projects

• written and oral communication - sharing your research findings via written reports and oral presentations to different audiences

• IT and technology - understanding and using computer software/models, processing data, using spreadsheets, word-processing and internet communication.

With state-of the-art facilities and excellent support services, the Institute of Applied Technology (IAT) offers career-based technical education at the secondary and tertiary levels. IAT’s aim is to meet the industrial and technical challenges and requirements that will allow UAE national students to move on to higher education and pursue their careers in the higher technologies. The IAT, with its campuses in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Al Shahama, encompasses higher learning start-ups in aviation, logistics, nursing and vocational training.

The Institute is government funded, founded in 2005 through Royal decree of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, and Ruler of Abu Dhabi as a corporate body with full financial and administrative independence.

The teaching medium and mode of communication across the organization is English.
